Evil Is Back — Diablo III Gets A May 15th Release Date
Blizzard Entertainment is finally making big moves regarding their two major titles releasing this year — Diablo III and World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria. With the World of Warcraft Press Tour starting on March 19th, which will release bounds of new information for the next expansion to the MMORPG phenomenon, getting Diablo III news within the same week’s time is quite the surprise! So when Blizzard decided to drop the bombshell on all of their fans by finally announcing the release date for our third dance with the Lord of Terror himself, one can expect it will be some big news. In today’s press release, Blizzard states that those interested in being prepared to fend off the terrors of the Burning Hells on the exact minute of release time can pre-purchase and download Diablo III straight from their account on battle.net! You will actually download a full version of the game that is encrypted to be unlocked and patched on it’s release! If you happen to be a World of Warcraft player you can also get Diablo III for free by participating in their Annual Pass Promotion. When you sign up for the Annual Pass and make a 1-year commitment to World of Warcraft, you’ll receive a free digital copy of Diablo III, an exclusive World of Warcraft in-game mount (Tyrael’s Charger), as well as access to the upcoming World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria beta test. This promotion does end on May 1st, so if you’re interested in the deal, you have a little more than a month to take in all the upcoming Mists of Pandaria information with which to decide.Raphael Coury // Super PolyPixel

Like Diablo? Have an Xbox?

Then stop wasting your damn time! Torchlight is half off on the XBLA right now, and it’s easily worth the 600 MS points. Torchlight was one of those games where I got the demo, forgot about it, and then played it when I was bored one day. Dear God was it addictive. It’s a traditional dungeon crawler expertly mapped to a 360 controller, so do yourself a favor and buy the damn game. It’s great!

The Great Mass Effect Playthrough Continues

In anticipation of Mass Effect 3’s release next Tuesday, I’ve been working on bringing my renegade Femshep, Shelob Shepherd, through both previous games and ALL the DLC.

It’s quite the undertaking.

Last night I finally finished Mass Effect 1, which is a blessing indeed. It means that I finally get to change Shelob’s horribly angular face around. Somehow, due to the lighting on the character creation screen, Shelob had horribly caved-in cheeks and looked like a zombie from the side, like some sort of horrible polygon nightmare. All is much improved now, though, and I’m ready to get going on ME2 when I get home from work tonight.

Look out, bad guys standing next to windows, Femshep is on the way!

TED Promo for Prometheus Goes Viral

Guy Pearce stars in the latest piece of viral marketing for Ridley Scott’s eagerly-anticipated Prometheus. TED, the famed international technology conference, served as host for the stunt, as live audiences were treated to a chilling monologue from Peter Weyland on the nature of human development, technology, and the Greek titan for which the film derives its name. Though not technically part of the films canon, this short video provides a great deal of insight to the connections between Prometheus and the rest of the Aliens universe.

I know that a lot of people are disappointed that there’s only a very tenuous connection between this and the Alien films, but I think it looks like the first really great scifi movie since Moon.
